Biography

Antoni Peyrí i Macià (1924-2017) was a prominent Catalan architect, painter, and draftsman, born in Barcelona. After the Spanish Civil War, he went into exile in Mexico with his family in 1941, where he studied and graduated as an architect from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is known for his contribution to the design of the Palacio de los Deportes for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City and for his participation in the UNAM Exhibition Center.Peyrí was also a notable abstract painter, dedicating himself primarily to this activity from 1975 onward. His pictorial style is characterized by undefined shapes and a smooth application of color. Throughout his career, he taught and participated in conferences and exhibitions in both America and Europe. He returned to Catalonia in 1990, where he continued his artistic activity until his death in 2017.
