"Gaudi: Back to the Origins" Exhibition

A once-in-a-century immersive experience, available for international touring.

To mark the 100th anniversary of Antoni Gaudí’s death, the Gaudí Foundation has developed a global travelling exhibition that brings together—for the first time—original materials, premium replicas, immersive media art, and cutting-edge creative technology inspired by Gaudí’s principles.

A global project celebrating Gaudi’s centennial

As an institution dedicated to preserving, researching, and promoting Gaudí’s legacy, the Gaudí Foundation oversees the curation, content, research, and authenticity of the exhibition.

The experience draws on more than 40 years of research and a wide international network of Gaudí experts, makers, architects, and scholars.

The result is a flexible, world-class cultural product suitable for:

Museums

Media-art venues

Cultural districts

Festivals

Mixed-use developments

The exhibition concept

Back to the Origins, The Rebirth of Creation

The heart of the exhibition is Gaudí’s lifelong return to nature as a source of beauty, structure, and innovation. Through immersive environments and interactive stations, visitors trace the origins of Gaudí’s imagination and the universal principles behind his architecture.

The global touring version expands on the Japan edition, integrating additional originals, new media, and the Foundation’s 2024–2025 academic findings.

The two-way path of origin

Gaudí’s Return to the Origin
Gaudí was inspired by nature- a source he had loved since childhood. There, he discovered the order of the universe and the essence of architecture. Letting go of ornamentation and choosing harmony with nature marked a unique style for him.

Our Return to the Origin
This exhibition not only showcases Gaudí’s works but also revives the spirit of his constant pursuit of renewal. In this era of technology and speed, we are gradually losing touch with beauty and nature. Now is the time to pause, even briefly, and reconnect—with our sorroundings, with our bodies, and with our senses—to what truly matters.

The exhibition concept

01.

Immersive storytelling across nine rooms

A full sensory journey through Gaudí’s world, his childhood, Barcelona, workshop, nature, form-finding, and legacy, designed for international audiences and scalable to different venue sizes.

02.

Originals & rare archives

The exhibition can include:

Gaudí’s notebooks, drawings, and archival documents.

Original tiles, models, and historic artefacts.

Certified replicas and high-fidelity reconstructions.

All selections are curated and approved by the Foundation.

03.

The Unbuilt Projects (Global Debut)

For the first time, Gaudí’s unrealised projects, such as Hotel Attraction (NYC), the Tower for Tangier, and the unbuilt version of the Colònia Güell church, are brought to life through advanced 3D reconstructions developed by the Gaudí Foundation’s research team.

04.

Interactive workshop: AI & Gaudí

Developed with STF (Tim Fu Studio), visitors can explore Gaudí’s form-finding logic using physical catenary models and AI-enhanced tools. This component is available as an optional module for a standalone exhibition pop-up.

05.

Local cultural integration

A modular “Legacy” area allows each host city to feature:

Local architects and designers

Cultural organisations

Context-specific installations

Ensuring the exhibition resonates with each region and connects Gaudí’s ideas with local creativity.
